About Reno-Tahoe

Reno: A City on the Rise
There's a real sense of energy and change in the air of America's Adventure Place. From trendy new lounges, restaurants and galleries to a downtown buzzing with the presence of a new ballroom and events center, and a ballpark and retail district in the works, Reno-Tahoe is alive. Very much alive.

Beyond the 20,000 rooms, the 500,000-square-foot Reno-Sparks Convention Center, the 118,000-square-foot Reno Events Center and the ever-widening wealth of unique group facilities, the horizons of Reno-Tahoe are alive with more exciting options. Public and private entities are spending billions in tourism infrastructure developments that will benefit meeting and convention groups with new hotel rooms and meeting space, added retail options and new visitor amenities.

And then there's the other side of the scene.

With thousands of miles of mountain biking and hiking trails, 300-plus days of sunshine and year-round activities ranging from boating to golf and skiing to whitewater rafting, Reno-Tahoe takes its claim as America's Adventure Place seriously. Groups can indulge in all that the region has to offer with creative off-sites and team building activities. And attendees who wish to explore the destination once their meetings are adjourned will find an endless array of ways to enjoy Reno-Tahoe's outdoors, art and culture attractions, western heritage, dining and top-name entertainment.

Convention and meeting planners have more options than ever when it comes to hotel and meeting space. With more than $2 billion in development planned or underway, you'll find new hotels on the rise, significant upgrades at eight area hotels and hotel-casinos, the addition of 138,000-square-feet of meeting space, and city beautification projects that positively impact the entire group experience.

Tahoe: Meeting at a Higher Elevation
The assortment of things to do and places to go is mind-boggling. And as you’ll see in the "North Lake Tahoe" section, so are the options for meetings and conventions.

Hop into your car or board a bus, climb up and away, and 30 minutes or so from Reno, crest Mt. Rose summit and you'll come face to face with a full frontal assault of Lake Tahoe, one of the world's great treasures. Wind your way through high mountain meadows down the highway to Lake Tahoe and, after enduring miles and miles of jaw-dropping scenery, you'll eventually come to Tahoe City - a culinary paradise with over 20 unique restaurants many with stunning lake views. Great dining is a focus here - each autumn it's celebrated at the Autumn Food and Wine Festival at Northstar.

Not far away is the Thunderbird Lodge Historic Site where you'll get a feel for what Tahoe's "high life" of another era was like. An hour's walk through the estate - built in 1936 for George Whittell - takes you to the Lighthouse Room, as well as a trip through the 600-foot underground tunnel leading to the infamous Card House and Boat House "garage" for a stunning 55-foot long, yacht with mahogany hull and dual aircraft engines - a one-of-a-kind masterpiece. And if you time it just right - in July and August - you can settle into the dunes of Sand Harbor and all the entertainment of the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival.

New villages at Squaw and Northstar and a new conference center at Granlibakken offer meeting venues mountainside. Fortunately, you're never far from the serenity of a great beach, a quiet glider ride above the Carson Valley, a shaded park, or trails leading to distant deserts and alpine peaks peaks that scratch the sky.

As we warned you earlier: it's an amazing scene. Please enjoy it responsibly
